Hospices and bereavement support
The hospice movement has been one of the driving forces in highlighting the needs of bereaved people.
A hospice can offer information and support to the family and friends of people who are cared for by it, both before and after a death. Some hospices also offer support to people who have not had previous contact with the hospice. Many also work closely with schools to offer advice to teachers.
Finding a bereavement service
You can find bereavement services in the UK in the Directory of Bereavement Services, which is produced by Help the Hospices and Cruse Bereavement Care. To buy a copy of the Directory contact sales@ris.org.uk, or telephone 020 7840 9930.
This directory is one of several bereavement projects that Help the Hospices has supported to help hospices develop their own bereavement services.
