Help with searching

You can get better results when searching our database of hospice and palliative care providers by using these tips on searching by:
  • keywords

  • name of service

  • type of service

  • catchment area

  • volunteer involvement

  • management.

Keyword search

Use the 'Keyword’ search to search for one or more specific words within a service's name, address and catchment area.

Name of service

Use the 'Name' field if you know the name of the provider you are searching for. If you are not sure of the full name you can enter part of the name; for example, 'Christopher' for St Christopher's Hospice.

Type of service

Use the 'Adult/Child' field to narrow your search to services for adults or for children.

Catchment area

Use this field to search for services which cover a particular area. Enter a town or the first part of a postcode (eg SM2) to find providers that cover that area. If you do not get any results for a particular town or postcode, try the next nearest town or borough.

Use of volunteers

The 'Involves volunteers' drop down option allows you to limit your search to only display services which involve volunteers.

Management

The 'Managed by' field lets you identify voluntary, NHS, Marie Curie and Sue Ryder services. Voluntary services are managed by local, independent charities while Marie Curie Cancer Care and Sue Ryder Care are national charities.
