They should consider the following questions:
- What and where are your assets (your property, money, pensions, shares and so on)?
- If you do not make a Will, what will happen to your assets after your death?
- Do you want everything to go to one person?
- Would you like some things, or some money, to go to certain people or to a 'good cause'?
Executors
When someone makes a Will, they normally identify one or more people who will ensure that their wishes are fulfilled. These people are called executors.
A solicitor will be able to tell you what an executor has to do and how to appoint one.
Finding help and advice
Legal advice
It is a good idea to seek legal advice from a solicitor about making a Will. The rules about signing and witnessing Wills can be complicated. You should compare solicitors' fees before making a decision about which solicitor to use.
