Sick pay and tax rebates
If the person you care for is employed, they may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay. If you or the person you care for has stopped working, you may be entitled to an income tax rebate. In either case ask your or their former employer for the tax office details.
Insurance and mortgages
The person you are caring for may have insurance policies that allow them to claim for some of your expenses, such as travel to hospital appointments. Your mortgage company may also be able to help with your mortgage payments.
Paying bills
If you are worried about paying bills, talk to the companies concerned before the situation gets worse. For free confidential advice on dealing with debt, contact the National Debtline on 0808 808 4000.

Contact your local Social Services department (or Social Work department in Scotland) for information about:
