We had another extremely successful year working with corporate partners and secured six new partnerships.
Financial support
Our partnerships with Santander and MMC exceeded expectations, raising more than £400,000 between them, and our partnership with Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks has already raised more than £1 million for hospice care.
Meanwhile, our relationship with the Towergate Partnership went from strength to strength with the Towergate Charitable Foundation supporting our Masters in Hospice Leadership and professional development grants programmes.
Sharing skills and expertise
As well as raising vital funds, our corporate partners shared their skills and expertise in support of hospice care. In particular, Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks helped to organise our ‘Financial strategies for survival’ conference, and several companies provided hospices with valuable volunteering opportunities.
New partnerships
Building on the corporate support we received, we secured exciting new partnerships with six companies:
- Allianz Insurance
- Gap Group
- Jones Lang LaSalle
- Morrisons
- Saint-Gobain Building Distribution
- Trader Media Group
These will support hospices in the coming year and beyond.
Our members are at the heart of everything we do, and involving them in our work is vital to our future success. This year we spent more time developing closer links with our members and listening to their needs.
Recognising the importance of engaging face to face, we held roadshows around the country, visited many of our members, and attended a number of regional hospice meetings. As a result, our members were given a bigger say in what we do and we were able to draw on their expertise to inform our work.
The Department of Health appointed us to run its second £40 million capital grants programme for hospices in England. In total, 123 grants were awarded to hospices, enabling them to improve their physical environments. One hospice is using its grant to open a second hospice building, which will allow it to double the number of day care patients it cares for and start an outpatient clinic.
We stepped up our efforts to support international collaboration in palliative care by publishing ‘Going global’, which gives a step-by-step guide to developing international partnerships. International collaboration benefits all involved, facilitating the sharing of expertise and good practice across continents.
