Strategic priorities
Championing the voice
Did you know...
Half of all countries do not have access to hospice and palliative care
.
Championing the voice
We will:
Construct a persuasive argument for fair long-term statutory funding for hospice care that is capable of commanding political support – and work to bring about its delivery.
Prove the impact of hospices to governments and others by showing the value for money and great benefits that hospice care delivers – and the number of people whose lives are enriched by hospices.
Give hospices the support they need to become effective negotiators with NHS commissioners – and make sure the NHS commissions and funds services fairly to meet local needs.
Support hospices in England to become the appropriate local partners of choice in delivering the government’s End of Life Care Strategy, and monitor and challenge the NHS on the delivery and implementation of the strategy.
Support the work of Independent Hospices Cymru in influencing the implementation of the Palliative Care Planning Group report by the Welsh Assembly Government.
Support hospices in Scotland in the implementation of The Scottish Government’s palliative and end of life care action plan, working closely with the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care.
Support hospices in Northern Ireland in working with local partners to implement the agreed model of palliative care and standards, and make sure the Northern Ireland Assembly gives priority to palliative care.
Support Children’s Hospices UK in advocating around children’s palliative care issues.
Work with our international partners to advocate hospice and palliative care worldwide.
