Mary is a 39 year old woman, divorced with a 9 year old boy and a 16 year old daughter.

She has very advanced breast carcinoma and was admitted to hospital urgently because of rapid deterioration.  She is now deteriorating day by day and is insisting on returning home.

Her recently widowed mother has been staying at home to look after the children.
