1. Registration

There are less than three months to go until this year's World Hospice and Palliative Care Day with Voices for Hospices. This year it will take place on 10 October 2009 with events and activities celebrating and supporting hospice and palliative care around the world.

Registration is open on the website so please post your activities. The form is very simple and only takes five minutes to complete. You can upload a document and include a link to your website if you wish.

Once you have registered, your event will be displayed on the website and will be listed in the formal evaluation of the day.

Remember, the website is the main source of information for everyone around the world to find out what is going on in their area, so please make sure information about your event is included.

Events registered on the website so far include a Voices for Hospices concert in Harare, Zimbabwe, an open day in Auckland, New Zealand and media work on hospice care in Korca, Albania.

Register and show your activities on the World Day website.

2. Theme and unifying factor

The theme for 2009 is 'Discovering your voice' highlighting the voices of those affected by hospice and palliative care.

Tell your story, and encourage others to share theirs, to strengthen our messages about the benefits of hospice and palliative care.

One story or message from those that are submitted online will be chosen at the end of August to be the unifying factor of the global event. This story or message will be read out at events and activities for World Day and Voices for Hospices worldwide.
