The events are open to all, not just those cared for by hospices.
About the events
Every Light up a Life event is different. However, for most, a vital part is the opportunity to dedicate a message in memory of a loved one, either by lighting a candle, hanging a message on a tree, recording the name of someone special in a book of remembrance or reading it aloud.
Events take place in a variety of venues, including hospice gardens or chapels and local churches or town squares.
For most hospices, Light up a Life is one of their best-loved and most meaningful events, attracting hundreds of local people year after year. It represents a time to be comforted and to share hope with others.
Online dedications
Help the Hospices supports the campaign by providing the Light up a Life website through which you can find your nearest hospice event. You can also use the website to light a virtual candle in memory of a loved one, add a photo and dedicate a message of celebration or remembrance.
You can then send a message to friends and family who cannot attend an event.
When you light a virtual candle, you can also choose to make a donation to support your local hospice.
