Running information

Don't let Santa’s belly fool you, he still understands the importance of exercise and staying fit!

A 5km walk, jog or run shouldn't be too strenuous for the average person; however, we recommend that you put in some gentle training if you plan to run or jog the course. A slow jog or walk a few times a week leading up to the event will make sure that you remain a jolly Santa on the day.

Trained medical staff will be on site to assist people if and when required.

Tips

Whether you are planning to walk, jog or run on the day, please make sure you follow these helpful tips:

  • The warm up begins at 10.30am; if you are planning to run or jog the course make sure you arrive in plenty of time to warm up properly and remember to stretch out afterwards.

  • Do not eat a large breakfast before the event; Santa may have a round belly but you don't want to be exercising on a full stomach. Make sure you do have a light breakfast so that you have lots of energy to carry you around the course.

  • Drink plenty of water before and after the event. Water will be available on the day.

  • The Santa suit should ideally go over your clothes. It will be winter so it is important to stay warm.

  • Wear practical footwear – even if you are planning to walk.
