Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can make your donation to Help the Hospices worth more by making a Gift Aid declaration.

How it works

For every £1 you give to Help the Hospices, we can claim a further 28p from HM Revenue & Customs at no cost to you. So your donation of £10 would be worth £12.80 to us.

To let us claim the extra money all you have to do is fill in a Gift Aid declaration.

Essential information

In order for us to benefit from Gift Aid on your donation, your Gift Aid declaration form must include your full name and full home address.

If you are collecting sponsorship your donors must provide this information for us to be able to claim Gift Aid on their donations.

Government top-up scheme

From 6 April 2008 until 5 April 2011, HMRC will pay an addition top up payment of 3p for every £1 donation made under the Gift Aid scheme, making your £1 donation worth £1.28 to Help the Hospices. For more information on the top up scheme , please visit the HMRC website.

Higher Rate taxpayers

Help the Hospices can only claim Gift Aid directly at the basic rate of tax. If you pay tax at the higher rate, you will be able to claim a rebate based on the difference between the higher rate and the basic rate on your Self Assessment form. To check how much your gift is worth, use the calculator above.

On your Self Assessment form you can choose to nominate Help the Hospices to receive your rebate.
