How grant makers support us
Trusts and foundations can contribute to programmes that support key aspects of hospice care:
-
education and training
-
service development
-
our core services
Education and training
The National Gardens Scheme and the Wolfson Foundation have both supported our education and training programme, enabling professionals in palliative care services to develop and refresh their skills.
Service development
We rely on support to help us to develop overseas hospice care in resource-poor nations. Sylvia Adams Charitable Trust, for example, has provided valuable support through our international grants programme.
Our core services
Grants also help us to fulfil our role as the national charity for the hospice movement in the UK by supporting key areas of our activity. These include our advocacy work and our information services, such as our UK and international directories of hospice and palliative care services.
Other ways to support us
There are many other ways in which trusts and foundations can support the work of Help the Hospices, including:
- supporting our biannual national conference at which hospice staff from the UK and overseas come together to network and learn about the hospice movement
-
donating to our policy work, and thereby helping us provide a national voice for the interests, views and concerns of independent charitable hospices across the UK
-
contributing to our 'widening access' work, which gives hospices the tools to enable disadvantaged or minority groups to access hospice care
-
donating to our bereavement support service, which helps hospice staff and volunteers to improve the support available to carers and families.
