Did you know... Hospices need to raise over £1 million per day to keep going
.

How schools can help

Depending on the age of your pupils, your school could really make a difference to your local hospice.

There are several ways you can help, including:

  • fundraising

  • collecting items for the hospice shops

  • helping in the hospice.

Fundraising

Schools can fundraise for hospices in different way. For example, you could adopt a local hospice as your charity of the year or organise one-off events such as fun runs, ‘wear yellow’ days, concerts or 'Light up a Life' events.

Find your local hospice

Find your local hospice in our hospice directory and contact the voluntary service manager or co-ordinator to discuss how your school can help.

Resources for schools

If your school would like information and resource materials on death, dying and bereavement, we can help.

The resources available via our website include:

  • a handbook for primary school staff

  • a resources pack for 11-14 year olds

  • lesson plans for sixth form and further education colleges.
