Football-mad four year old and dad win day out at Wembley, thanks to Help the Hospices

22 February 2012

A football mad four year-old and his dad have spent an exciting day at the Carling Cup Final, after winning a competition organised by Help the Hospices.

Help the Hospices, which is The Football League’s official charity partner this season, gave away the coveted pair of tickets to celebrate the launch of their Arch to Arc Bike Ride from Wembley Stadium to the Arc de Triomphe.

The charity asked fans to submit home videos showing their best, most spectacular and funniest football moments.

Nick Bridge from Warwick and his son Charlie spent hours over the half term break filming their video entry, which shows Charlie, aged 4 and a half, showing off his football skills as he kicks a football into a basketball hoop.

Watch the winning clip now and guess how many attempts it takes for Charlie to succeed!

The lucky Liverpool FC fans travelled all the way to Wembley, where they saw their team take the trophy. Nick said:

"Charlie and I had a very special day out at Wembley as it was his first proper football match, and we’ll always be grateful to Help the Hospices. I wasn’t aware of the charity before this competition, but now I am and they have my full support. There’s nothing greater than looking after vulnerable people and the work of Help the Hospices means that hospices can continue to provide the very best care to seriously ill patients and their families."

ITV sports commentator Peter Drury chose the winning video and will personally commentate over the clip as part of their prize. Peter, who’s also patron of Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, is backing the Arch to Arc Bike Ride. He said:

"Nick and Charlie’s video is not only extremely cute but it’s clearly taken a great deal of effort to put together, so they were really deserving winners of the tickets. The competition has also been a fantastic way to celebrate this exciting fundraising event, The Football League’s Arch to Arc Bike Ride. I urge all football fans to get involved and represent their club."
