Future strategy to support carers

Help the Hospices Care for the Carers of the Terminally Ill programme ended in March 2009. However, we plan to continue our work to support carers of people in the palliative care setting. Our primary focus is to support our member hospices in their work with carers.

Feedback

The views of carers and professionals about how to take this work forward are important to Help the Hospices. We gathered feedback via three consultation meetings with hospice professionals in November 2007.  Questionnaires were then sent out to hospice professionals and carers in early 2008. These were completed by:

  • 215 carers via 48 hospices

  • 191 professionals from 58 hospices.
