Capital Projects seminar

Help the Hospices held a successful and well-attended event for hospices that had been awarded a grant under the Department of Health capital grants programme.

About the seminar

The seminar looked at the challenges of planning and undertaking major capital projects. The day featured case studies of hospices that have been through major capital projects.

 

Contributions to the programme included:

  • Getting it right; the 3 Rs of successful capital builds given by Janet Doghan, chief executive and John Watkins, chair and project manager, Farleigh Hospice
  • A personal experience of a major building project given by Nicholas Ratsey, chief executive, Princess Alice Hospice

  • Trinity Hospice: Living every moment given by Anne Hooper, chief executive and Alba Lewis, director of fundraising, Trinity Hospice, and Polly Barker, Bennett Health and Education

  • Capital projects and VAT given by Marina Phillips, director of finance, St Joseph’s and Philippa Booth, Charity Team VAT and tax manager, Buzzacott
