About this grant programme
Hospices could apply for funding to undertake any kind of capital projects, for example new builds, extensions, ward conversions, renovations and equipment.
The Francis Winham Foundation provided over £600,000 each year and grants of between £20,000 and £50,000 each were made.
Applications from the ‘most needy’ hospices were prioritised. This meant that hospices that showed free reserves of less than nine months running costs in their most recent audited accounts were eligible. For the purpose of this grants programme, free reserves were defined as unrestricted funds (including designated funds) less unrestricted fixed assets.
