Volunteer grants

Following the success of the Millennium Awards scheme, Help the Hospices continued its commitment to support and promote hospice volunteering. Two new grant programmes were created with the purpose of enhancing volunteers' skills and improving quality of care.

Training and development grants

We offered training and development grants to enhance the skills of volunteers working in hospices. We awarded grants for a maximum of 75% of course fees, and up to £500 per year.

You can read about examples of funding offered to volunteers for their professional development.

Volunteer project grants

The volunteer project grants were offered to groups or individual volunteers initiating projects that would improve the quality of care to patients, families or carers in their hospice community. We awarded grants for a maximum of £1,500 for any one project.
