Professional development grants

Professional development grants help to support the cost of individuals' continuing professional development.

This programme is administered on a 'fast-track' basis, which means we aim to make a decision on an application within one month of receiving it.

Who can apply?

The following can apply for this grant:

  • Staff in independent voluntary hospices are eligible for funding towards attending accredited courses (at certificate, diploma and degree level), conferences and study days across a wide range of disciplines.

  • Funding for staff in NHS units, other hospices or in nursing homes is exclusively for training in palliative care.

Volunteers are not eligible to apply for this grant programme.

Amount of grant

A maximum of 50% of the fees (up to £750 a year) may be awarded to individuals, whose applications must be supported by their employer.

Courses with fees less than £200 are not eligible for funding.
