What are we trying to achieve through this grant programme?
Our primary objective in providing these grants is to make the information in the 'Palliative care toolkit' as widely available and as inexpensive as possible. We want to:
- support community based organisations as they seek to develop and maintain sustainable hospice and palliative care services
- initiate and support training programmes seeking to raise the standards and quality of palliative care through improved education delivery
- promote and maximise information sharing across the countries of Latin America
- empower existing health workers in these countries to practice palliative care.
What is the toolkit?
The 'Palliative care toolkit: improving care from the roots up in resource-limited settings' is a practical manual to equip, empower and encourage health workers in resource-limited settings to integrate palliative care into their work and their communities.
It brings a holistic and "can do" approach to delivering care for those suffering with life-limiting diseases and is an important contribution to increasing the spread of palliative care globally.
Spanish and Portuguese printed versions of the toolkit are available and the toolkit in English is available to download from the Help the Hospices website.
