The funding for the End of Life Care Strategy in England included a £40 million hospice capital programme to improve the environment in which adult hospice care is provided.
Hospices will be invited to submit proposals for projects that will improve the care environment for patients, their families and carers. The funding will be available for projects starting in April 2010 with a completion deadline of 31 March 2011.
The Department of Health is currently working on the practicalities of the programme, and more details on the criteria and the application process will be circulated to hospices in due course.
Help the Hospices is working closely with the Department in drawing up criteria. We are unable to provide more details at this time but will advise when we have more information.
In the meantime, adult hospices in England are encouraged to think now about whether there are any potential projects that could be worked up in to a proposal.
