In most cases this has been a financial crisis, though we have also used the programme to support hospices facing other issues, for example, funding a consultant to work with various parties to help overcome a major governance and managerial crisis.
At this time in response to the current economic situation, we will only be considering applications in relation to financial crises.
Available funding
Individual grant levels will be between £5,000 and £10,000. We are looking to award between two and three grants this round.
At present, there is a fixed sum of money available. It may not be possible to fund applications once this money has been allocated.
Deadlines
There is no application deadline for this programme. Please contact the grants team in advance to discuss your proposal.
Eligible organisations are full member hospices of Help the Hospices, based in the UK.
They must be facing a significant and immediate financial crisis which means that they may have to reduce frontline services for patients and their families and carers within the next six months.
The level of free reserves hospices hold will also be considered when analysing applications. To be eligible for a grant the hospices must have less than six months running costs held in free reserves.
Examples of eligible applications
Programmes of work that are directly related to strategically moving a hospice towards a more secure and sustainable long-term future. For example, this could include strategic consultancy in income generation or finance management to help plan a way forward.
