Eligible organisations
Eligible organisations are:
-
hospices that are full members of Help the Hospices
-
based in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.
The level of hospices’ free reserves will be considered when analysing applications. To be eligible for a grant, hospices must have less than six months running costs held in free reserves. For the purpose of this grant programme:
-
free reserves are defined as all reserves with the exception of restricted funds and any reserves represented by property
-
running costs are defined as total expenditure as per the most recent audited accounts.
Eligible projects
Any clinical equipment is eligible. For example, this could be:
-
diagnostic equipment, eg ECG machines, ultrasound equipment, bladder scanners
-

-
equipment which reduces the risk of accidents and incidents and increases the safety of the environment of care, eg low-rise beds, alarms that warn staff when people are getting out of bed, special chairs for smaller people, etc.
Please note the above examples are for guidance only and we encourage applicants to be innovative in their approach.
Examples of projects that are not eligible could include:
-
refurbishment of staff rooms or other non-patient facilities
