Widening Access Through Nurse Leadership grant programme

Funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing, this programme is to support innovative nurse-led projects which aim to develop and enhance the leadership abilities of the individual, as well as increase access to hospice and end of life care for people for whom access has previously been limited.

Two types of grants are available through this programme:

Seedcorn grants

Seedcorn grants were available in the first year only. Grants of up to £7,500 were available for activities demonstrating the need for widening access interventions. For example, this could be work to map the population in a local area or consultations to determine how to make hospice care and services more accessible to all.

Major grants

Major grants, of up to £25,000, are available to either:

  • implement work to address the findings from seedcorn grant activities if appropriate

  • new larger stand alone projects that can demonstrate clear evidence of need.

Receipt of a seedcorn grant does not guarantee receipt of a major grant.

The dates below may be changed so please check this page for updates.
