Assessment criteria

Major grant applications are assessed by a subcommitee of the Widening Access through Nurse Leadership steering group, established to provide guidance and direction to the work of the overall programme.

The group comprises nurse leaders and other senior hospice personnel as well as staff of Help the Hospices.

All applications are assessed against set criteria, which include evidence that the proposed project will:

  • offer clear opportunities for the lead applicant to develop or enhance their nurse leadership skills, specifically those which facilitate increased access to hospice care by communities or individuals that have previously underutilised such a service

  • addresses a previously identified unmet local need and that robust evidence is provided to support this

  • address the challenge of making hospice and end of life care services equitable to all

  • demonstrate a degree of user involvement

  • demonstrates partnership working

  • results in knowledge that can be learned from and shared with others.

The value for money and feasibility of the proposed work will also be taken into account.

It is important that you address each point in your application. These are not listed in order of importance.

It is likely that we will receive more applications than the amount of funding available so your application’s success can not be guaranteed. The committee’s decision is final.
