Hospice volunteers and volunteering

Over 100,000 people volunteer in hospices across the UK. Without them, hospices could not continue to do the work they do. Volunteer involvement is a significant aspect of the difference that hospices bring to the lives of patients and their families.

Help the Hospices supports hospice volunteering by:

working with the Association of Voluntary Service Managers (AVSM) to identify and support good practice in volunteering
commissioning reports and publications on volunteering issues
influencing government policy that has an impact on volunteering
running courses on managing volunteers for hospice staff
providing resource material and training for hospice trustees who form a specific group of volunteers
setting up employee volunteering for staff of companies with which we have corporate partnerships.
