Advocacy

Help the Hospices and other organisations offer resources to support individuals and organisations as they fight for hospice and palliative care worldwide.

Resources

Toolkits

The Advocacy Tool Kit for Hospices and Palliative Care Organisations was produced by Help the Hospices in 2005.

The Canadian Hospice and Palliative Care Association also offers an advocacy strategy toolkit that was produced in 2006:

Documents

The Korea Declaration for Palliative Care was produced by the Second Global Summit for National Hospice and Palliative Care Associations in Korea in 2005. It has been officially used by hospice and palliative care services across the world, with the World Health Organization and with several governments.

Recommendation 24 (2003) of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the organisation of palliative care was produced by the Council of Europe in 2004. It is available from Help the Hospices: please contact the Intelligence hub for a copy.

Report

Suffering at the end of life: the state of the world is a report produced by Help the Hospices in 2005. It was published in partnership with hospice and palliative care associations around the world.

The report describes the principles of hospice and palliative care and highlights the current issues facing its delivery through facts and figures, case studies and photographs. It also recommends what needs to be done to further develop and improve care service delivery throughout the world, and can be used as a tool for advocacy purposes.

Action days

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is a unified day of action held annually to raise awareness of palliative care around the world.
