Publications and newsletters

There are a large number of journals, periodicals and audio visual materials that are about or support hospice and palliative care worldwide. We have also provided a short reading list for those new to international palliative care.

Journals

Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative

The Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative (HINARI) program was set up by WHO and major publishers to allow developing countries to access one of the world's largest collections of biomedical and health literature. Over 3,750 journal titles are available to health institutions in 113 countries, benefiting thousands of health workers and researchers, and contributing to improved world health.

Local not-for-profit institutions can apply for HINARI resources on the WHO website.

Key journals in palliative care

In the UK, the following journals would cover the main areas of palliative care if resources were limited:

  • Palliative Medicine

  • International Journal of Palliative Nursing

  • Bereavement Care.
