With our partners, we work to influence multilateral and bilateral agencies, funders, national governments and society to promote the development of hospice and palliative care worldwide.
We support hospice and palliative care services worldwide to campaign and advocate locally through the provision of advocacy and campaigning resources and by working with the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance to provide advocacy education and training opportunities.
Initiatives
Our advocacy and campaigning initiatives include:
- providing opportunities for campaigning and advocacy at an international, local and national level through World Hospice and Palliative Care Day
- contributing to consultations by organisations that affect care worldwide
- engaging with policy makers and bilateral and multilateral organisations about hospice and palliative care
- providing resources to support advocacy initiatives by care services
- working in collaboration with the UK International AIDS Consortium and other development partners
- working with funders to ensure hospice and palliative care is being adequately funded, particularly the Global Fund.
One example of our work is a global advocacy project we are doing in collaboration with the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance to raise awareness of hospice and palliative care at the global level with key multinational institutions. It should also increase the capacity of national associations to undertake advocacy at the national level. This project is funded by the Open Society Institute.
