What the workshop covers
An effective working relationship between the chairman and the chief executive is vital to the success of an independent hospice. The partnership is the pivot around which successful governance and management turns; it provides leadership for the hospice and is likely to be the engine for change and development. Sustaining and developing the partnership involves managing two complex roles and negotiating the many overlaps between them.
This workshop lets you:
-
explore the nature of the partnership between the chairman and the chief executive in a charity and provides a structured process through which to develop the working partnership
-
assess how effective your Board is in delivering the governance role
-
focus on one or two areas for development using ideas and practices from other hospices and input from the facilitators
-
bring together any action points in a schedule for consultation and implementation
-
create an informal inter-hospice support network.
The workshop programme provides a structure for discussions away from the workplace. Past participants have found they cover ground during the workshop that would otherwise take much longer.
Who can attend
There are places on each workshop for chairmen and chief executives from up to eight hospices.
While it allows time to explore views, approaches, issues and any difficulties, it is not appropriate for those who are in conflict.
