Introduction

Here at Help the Hospices we understand that it is important for the people receiving hospice care to have their say, whether a patient, carer or family member. By listening to users and representing their views, hospices can continue to deliver the highest standards of care possible, to make their users feel comfortable, safe and valued.

A user quote:

“I’m lucky to have St Luke’s. And to go every Wednesday and mix there and laugh with people who you know have got cancer and they know they couldn’t be here tomorrow, here today gone tomorrow, or anything, it’s quite a thing to do. And you know you begin to realise that there are people in this world that are a lot worse off than you. I feel that, when I look at some that I’ve seen in there, I’m privileged”

A User Involvement Survey was carried out to help gain a better understanding of user involvement in hospices, share experiences and give hospices the opportunity to feed into the development of new support in this area.
